Dr. Dwella Moton Nelson

Dr. Dwella Moton Nelson grew up Edgefield, SC, a small town right outside of Augusta, GA.  She graduated from Strom Thurmond High School.  She attended Clemson University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry with a Double Minor in Biological Sciences and Psychology. 

Dr. Moton-Nelson obtained a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Analytical Chemistry in 2006.  She continued her training at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she completed two fellowships in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Moton Nelson became an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in 2012.

Dr. Moton Nelson has authored and coauthored 15 peer reviewed journal articles on topics in the physical sciences and cancer therapeutics.  She has presented her research at numerous national and international scientific conferences.  In addition, she was a Gordon Research Scholar.

Dr. Moton Nelson owns a curriculum company that develops S.T.E.A.M. curriculum for K-12 Grade Level educators and camps.  She has shares her financial literacy and diversity awareness programs with numerous national community-based organizations.      

Dr. Moton Nelson owns Kids Can Help 2 nonprofit.  This organization serves as a liaison between education centers, hospitals and companies to create kid-centered philanthropic opportunities that are meaningful and fun.     

Dr. Moton Nelson enjoys writing, real estate investments, and traveling.
